description The present work aims to read the images of the sea and the winds in Gilberto Avelino's poetry, presenting the resonances and repercussions of these images. I position myself as a reader/creator, who, driven by poetic reverie, builds images / memories. As specific objectives, I intend to understand what the elements water and air represent in the work of the poet from Rio Grande do Norte, establishing a dialogue between his poetry and the poetic philosophy of Gaston Bachelard. I use as a theoretical and methodological contribution the two perspectives that constitute the poetic imagination developed by the French philosopher: the material imagination of the four elements and the phenomenology of the imagination - conceptions that a priori can be perceived as different, as ruptures, but which are understood here as complementary. I also discuss homo poeticus, the poetic soul, a way of being, imagining and relating to the world. This work is based epistemologically on the Complex Thought developed by Edgar Morin, since it proves to be the most appropriate one to deal with the poetic being and poetic images. In addition to that, this research has a bibliographic character and a hermeneutical methodological approach to interpretation, not in the sense of finding “the truth” of the text, what is hidden in it or what is found behind Gilberto Avelino's poems. What I’m interested in is what he makes me think; what his writing makes me imagine; dreams, reverie, images that arise from the encounter between the self and the text. What I’m interested in are the resonances and repercussions of poetic images. Research enabled me to daydream about reading (BACHELARD, 2009), where the poet’s daydreams led me to my own daydreams.

O presente trabalho tem por objetivo realizar uma leitura das imagens do mar e dos ventos na poesia de Gilberto Avelino, apresentando as ressonâncias e as repercussões dessas imagens. Posiciono-me como um leitor/criador, que impulsionado pelo devaneio poético, constrói imagens/lembranças. Como objetivos específicos, pretendo compreender o que representam os elementos água e ar na obra do poeta potiguar, estabelecendo um diálogo entre a sua poesia e a filosofia poética de Gaston Bachelard. Utilizo como aporte teórico e metodológico as duas perspectivas que compõem a imaginação poética desenvolvida pelo filósofo francês: a imaginação material dos quatro elementos e a fenomenologia da imaginação - concepções que a priori podem ser percebidas como díspares, como rupturas, mas que aqui são entendidas complementares. Discorro também sobre o homo poeticus, a alma poética, uma maneira de ser, de imaginar e de se relacionar com mundo. Este trabalho é fundamentado epistemologicamente a partir do Pensamento Complexo desenvolvido por Edgar Morin, uma vez que esse se revela como o mais apropriado para tratar do ser poético e das imagens poéticas. Além disso, esta pesquisa possui um caráter bibliográfico e uma abordagem metodológica hermenêutica de interpretação, não no sentido de encontrar “a verdade” do texto, o que nele se esconde ou que se encontra por trás dos poemas de Gilberto Avelino. O que me interessa é o que ele me faz pensar; o que sua escrita me faz imaginar; os sonhos, os devaneios, as imagens que surgem do encontro entre o eu e o texto. O que me interessa são as ressonâncias e as repercussões das imagens poéticas.
