Descrição
Resumo:The study area is located in the northern cost of Rio Grande do Norte State, precisely to the west of Apodi-Mossoró River estuary including the cities of Tibau, Grossos and Mossoró. Geologicaly, this area is composed by rocks of Potiguar basin, represented by Cretaceous, Tertiary and Quaternary sediments. It is characterized by the intense action of coastal processes (Aeolian and coastal transport, generalized erosion, alteration in the sediments balance and coastline change), responsible for its morphological instability, beyond the intense anthropic interference, being distinguished the oil industry. It also can be cited the salt exploration industry and the expansion trend of shrimp farms. The goal of this work is the multitemporal analysis of the coastal morphodynamic of the region by recognition of terrain features, beach profiles and the interpretation of remote sensing images of the last four decades. This analysis was achieved by geoprocessing techniques for the elaboration of thematic maps of the natural resources and the evolution of the shoreline. Such techniques comprise significant tools for environment management denoting the trends of the anthropic and natural variations, making possible the planning adjusted for the development of the region, where measured they could be pointed to minimize potential environmental impacts caused by anthropic interference on the region, mainly those related to industrial activities
