Resumo:The objective of this work is to evaluate critically the functionality of the organizational structure of mobility authorities’ managers in the face of problems in this sector and the requirements prescribed by the National Policy on Urban Mobility (Law nº 12.587/2012). The issue of urban mobility in Brazilian cities motivated the creation of this policy, whose effectiveness is a factor of improvement of the conditions of urban life in the country. For this, it is necessary to adapt the organizational structure of the managing organisms in the cities. As a research method, an evaluation matrix was elaborated based on O&M (Organization and methods) literature review and the requirements of Federal Law number 12.587/2012. The collection of information about the evaluated organism was carried put through a documental research and semi-structured interviews with managers and stakeholders of the sector. The research was applied in the transport management body of the Metropolitan Region of Recife (RMR), which is a public consortium in development. The critical analysis of the results allowed concluding that the organizational structure of the managing authorities is not totally adequate to the requirements of the National Policy and configures a situation in which changes are necessary for its complete adequacy
