Resumo:This study aimed at analyzing and discussing the performance and musical transmission of Boi de Reis Calemba Pintadinho of Master Dedé Veríssimo, from the town of São Gonçalo do Amarante, in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, through data collection and analysis, review of literature and field observation, seeking to bring reflections about the process of musical learning by children who recently had been inserted in the group, in addition to the art of the older participants, who still remain in it (in the group), through the continuity of oral transmission of their experiences. The method used in this research work was case study, and the instruments of data collection were observations, interviews, audio and video recordings, as well description of stories of life of Masters Dedé, Damião and Kleber Teixeira. Some authors whose studies were used in the theoretical bases of the work were Brandão (1976, 1983), Gurgel (1981), Queiroz (2005) and Lima (2008). The results presented in the survey showed that there is a strong relationship between performance and musical transmission that remain in the group through observed daily learning, in addition to the inclusion of children in their practices, in rehearsals and presentations. It also demonstrated, through children's practice and learning, that continuity and maintenance of the traditions of Boi de Reis are mantained, despite the growing urbanization in the community. Other results of the analysis that could be found in the work were the records of the song presentation (cantorias) and melodies in sheet music mostly used by the group in its presentations, as well as descriptions of presentations with the recording of the loas, dialogues, instrumental group, choreographies, songs and also description of learning stories of children, teachers and other members of the Boi de Reis Calemba Pintadinho Group.
