Resumo:With the main objective of developing the architectural project of a corporate building with emphasis on environmental sustainability embodied in the application of criteria derived from a performance evaluation method, three guiding principles to the design were defined: sustainability, flexibility and connectivity. The project methodology consisted in identifying environmental sustainability actions for this specific corporate building agenda and to follow them through the stages of its design process. The Manual Selo Casa Azul was used as reference to define sustainability actions. The universe of study was the Tirol district, in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, where the implementation of the project shall take place. The design exercise was developed as an end product of the draft proposal. This is so, because the intention was not to achieve a high level of technical detail, but to represent the draft proposal in order to be understood, detailing only the necessary matter to ensure the understanding of the solutions employed. At the end of this process, it can be concluded that there is neither a set path nor a formula to design a sustainable building, and that it fits the architect to define the sustainability actions in relation to the type and characteristics of the building, as well as to transform these actions in design solutions throughout the process of architectural design.
