As part of health education, peer-led education has been delineated as a significant
form of prevention and health promotion in adolescents, an age group that has
gained prominence in the face of the global epidemic of the human
immunodeficiency virus. Aim: to evaluate the scientific evidence on peer-led
education in the prevention of immunodeficiency virus in adolescents. Method: This
is a systematic review, with the research question by the PICO strategy (Problem,
Intervention, Control or Comparasion, Outcomes): Peer education produces
behavioral changes and increased knowledge when used as a human
immunodeficiency virus prevention method in adolescents? The following electronic
databases were searched: Elsevier, PubMed Central, PubMed, DART-Europe, Web
of Science, Capes Thesis and Dissertation Catalog, Open Access Scientific
Repository of Portugal, LILACS, Scopus, Scielo, Open Access Thesis and
Dissertations, Cyberthesis, DART- Europe, Ethos, New Zealand theses, by crossing
the MesH indexed descriptors: 1.Peer Group; 2.Peer Influence; 3.Acquired
Immunodeficiency Syndrome; 4.Primary Prevention; 5.Health education;
6.Adolescent, and DeCS, for Latin American databases and repositories: 7. peer
influence 8. adolescent 9. HIV. Quantitative primary studies were included, such as
quasi-experimental, case-control, cohort, clinical trials. Of the 4857 studies found,
after first selection of reading titles and abstracts, deletion of duplicates, the sample It
was composed of 8 articles. Studies from the year 2000 onwards were evaluated.
ROBINS-I tool: Risk of Bias in Non-randomized Studies - of Interventions was used
to assess risk of bias. The GRADE system was used to assess the level, importance
and strength of recommendation of evidence. This review was submitted for
registration in the PROSPERO database under the identifier 150530. Results: there
was an excellent degree of agreement between reviewers (Kappa = 0.91). Data from
8 studies were analyzed for intervention characteristics, implementation and
evaluation. The outcomes condom use, knowledge about HIV/AIDS, and attitudes
towards people living with HIV / AIDS presented a high level of evidence. Testing for
HIV and Risk Attitudes level showed moderate level, and knowledge sharing and
about HIV / AIDS, low level. The overall risk of bias was identified as low for most
studies. There was a strong recommendation of peer-led education as conduct for
professionals and patients but there is a weak recommendation for use by managers.
The results are encouraging and support the use of peer education for the prevention
of immunodeficiency virus in adolescents. Conclusion: Peer education represents
an educational alternative to effect behavioral and non-behavioral changes regarding
the prevention of human immunodeficiency virus in adolescents. |

The results are encouraging and support the use of peer education for the prevention of immunodeficiency virus in adolescents. Conclusion: Peer education represents an educational alternative to effect behavioral and non-behavioral changes regarding the prevention of human immunodeficiency virus in adolescents. HIV. E, adicionalmente, as palavras-chaves 10.School-based prevention, 11.Peer education, 12.Youth, 13. Adolescence. A ferramenta ROBINS-I tool: Risk Of Bias In Nonrandomised Studies - of Interventions foi utilizada para a avaliação de risco de viés.
