Resumo:University libraries are institutions providers and organizers of knowledge that they need for their daily activities and to add value to their processes and services. This way, these organizations need to provide adequate environments to better management of their intangible resources. Knowledge Management (KM) is a strategy that assist in this process, as it works with the access, generation, incorporating, and transfer of knowledge in the organizational sphere. There are tools and practices that facilitate the work of KM within knowledge organizations, such as Brainstorming, Mentoring, among others. In view of this, this research, qualitative and quantitative approach, of descriptive nature, as well as configuring itself as a case study, has as a general objective to propose a portfolio of tools and practices of KM for the Central Library Zila Mamede (BCZM). Regarding the instruments chosen for data collection, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the director and coordinators of BCZM, as well the application of a questionnaire directed to the library’s actual employees. Qualitative data was analyzed using Bardin(2011) content analysis and quantitative aspects using simple descriptive statistics. As for the interview in general, it was noticed that the managers do not yet have a complete understanding of what KM is about and most of them do not know to mentions tools and practices. Also, they mentioned the main difficulties encountered in the library about acquiring, creating, storing, sharing and using knowledge. Regarding the analysis of the questionnaire data, it was identified mainly that tools and practices of the KM of dimension Individuals have higher frequency of use by employees than dimension Organizational Processes and dimension Technology. On the other hand, regarding the degree of importance, the dimension Organizational Processes was the best dimension evaluated by the employees comparing with the other two dimensions cited. All results led the construction of a Portfolio proposing various KM tools and practices in their respective dimensions (Individuals, Organizational Processes and Technology), divided into three levels of BCZM implementation, strengthening and institutionalization suggestion, namely: KM tools and practices, already used satisfactorily and suggested for institutionalization; KM tools and practices, occasionally used and suggested for strengthening and institutionalization; and tool little or not used, but suggested for implementation/strengthening and institutionalization.
