A general study of the polynomials (polynomial functions) will be presented with the aim of treating the resolution of the equations. It also will be presented the deductions of the so-called Cardano’s formula, for the resolution of the polynomial equations of degree 3 and a method to solve the equations of degree 4. Neste trabalho de conclusão de curso serão abordado o estudo das equações polinomiais, fazendo breves comentários históricos e, principalmente, tratando de suas resoluções. Para isso, é feita uma revisão dos principais conceitos e resultados, do ponto de vista algébrico, a cerca dos números reais e dos números complexos. Um estudo geral dos polinômios (funções polinomiais) serão apresentado com o objetivo de tratar das resoluções das equações.
