(Re)existir é resistir: a (re)ocupação das áreas públicas sob a ótica dos movimentos sociais contemporâneos - o caso da Cidade da Esperança, Natal/RN
description Over the years, the public areas that served as the stage for important social events in the Cidade da Esperança in Natal / RN, since its founding in the 1960s, have ceased to be attraction factors in the neighborhood, causing the distancing of the residents. This happened especially with the housing blocks of the old Urban Social Center - where recreational, sports, cultural and professional activities were offered - due to its change of function through the installation of institutional equipment. However, since mid-2016, the neighborhood has witnessed the performance of collective organizations organized by young people seeking a return to public spaces through cultural activities. Starting from such prerogatives, the question is: How have the "street groups" that recently emerged in the Cidade da Esperança have been articulated in search of the preservation and (re) occupation of the squares and streets of the neighborhood? Thus, the main objective is appoint elements to understand the reach of the contemporary social movements of urban resistance in the change of the logic of use and belonging of the places of sociability. The research already demonstrates relevance to the scientific milieu, owing to the need currently to deepen the studies about about the role of urban struggle strategies and the appropriation of collective life spaces in the city. In addition, the motivation to approach this theme came from the empirical observation of the author, who because he lived in the neighborhood and lived in it since his childhood, experienced some of the transformations that occurred. Based on reflections undertaken by Agnes Heller (1985), Ana Fani Carlos (2007, 2008), David Harvey (2014), Henri Lefebvre (1999), Horacio Capel (1972), José Magnani (1984), Lobato Corrêa (1989, 2011) Maria da Glória Gohn (1985, 2011), Michael Hardt and Antônio Negri (2014), Niara Palma (2011), among others, will be approached aspects related to the following concepts: Daily life, Sociability and Place; Urban Dynamics, transforming the spaces of collective life; Social Agents modeling urban space; and New social movements and urban struggle strategies. The methodological approach adopted, in turn, seeks to ally the precepts established by the ethnographic research method to a historical perspective, also using various techniques, such as participant observation, photoetnography, interviews, questionnaires, data collection, mapping , consult the social networks of movements and cartographic material. Finally, knowing the particularities and potentialities of these movements, the results of the research point to a re-signification of the spaces of urban coexistence. From their (re) occupation, they cease to be the space of fear and abandonment and become the space of socio-cultural, political and urban resistance, through which the young residents of popular neighborhoods of Natal seem to be claiming for themselves and for their fellow citizens the right to the City, Culture and Recreation.

Com o passar dos anos, as áreas públicas que atuaram como palco de importantes acontecimentos para o convívio social na Cidade da Esperança em Natal/RN, desde a sua fundação na década de 1960, deixaram de ser fatores de atração no bairro, causando o distanciamento dos moradores. Isso aconteceu especialmente com a superquadra do antigo Centro Social Urbano - onde eram oferecidas atividades recreativas, esportivas, culturais e profissionalizantes - em virtude de sua mudança de função por meio da instalação de equipamentos institucionais. No entanto, desde meados de 2016, tem-se presenciado no bairro a atuação de organizações coletivas encabeçadas pelos jovens visando um retorno aos espaços públicos através da realização de atividades culturais. Ao partir de tais prerrogativas, questiona-se: De que forma os “grupos de rua” surgidos recentemente na Cidade da Esperança têm se articulado em busca da preservação e (re)ocupação das praças e largos do bairro? Assim, tem-se como objetivo principal apontar elementos para compreender o alcance dos movimentos sociais contemporâneos de resistência urbana na mudança da lógica de utilização e pertencimento dos lugares de sociabilidade. A pesquisa por si só já demonstra relevância para o meio científico, devido à necessidade que há atualmente de se aprofundar os estudos acerca do papel das estratégias de luta urbana e a apropriação dos espaços de vida coletiva na cidade. Além disso, a motivação para a abordagem dessa temática se deu a partir da observação empírica do autor, que por ser morador do bairro e residir nele desde a sua infância, vivenciou parte das transformações ocorridas. Com base em reflexões empreendidas por Agnes Heller (1985), Ana Fani Carlos (2007, 2008), David Harvey (2014), Henri Lefebvre (1999), Horácio Capel (1972), José Magnani (1984), Lobato Corrêa (1989, 2011), Maria da Glória Gohn (1985, 2011), Michael Hardt e Antônio Negri (2014), Niara Palma (2011), dentre outros, serão abordados aspectos relacionados aos seguintes conceitos: Cotidiano, Sociabilidade e Lugar; Dinâmica Urbana, transformadora dos espaços de vida coletiva; Agentes Sociais modeladores do espaço urbano; e Movimentos sociais contemporâneos e estratégias de luta urbana. O percurso metodológico adotado, por sua vez, procura aliar os preceitos estabelecidos pelo método de pesquisa etnográfica a uma perspectiva histórica, recorrendo ainda a diversas técnicas, como a observação participante, fotoetnografia, entrevistas, aplicação de questionários, levantamento de dados, confecção de mapas, consulta as redes sociais dos movimentos e análise de plantas material cartográfico. Por fim, conhecidas as particularidades e potencialidades desses movimentos, os resultados da pesquisa apontam para uma ressignificação dos espaços de convivência urbana.
