Resumo:We investigated the performance of a university extension project and the repercussion of the transforming methodology of action research when carrying out actions of educommunication. As well as the use of media and the production of multimedia content by students in school, in the construction of their citizenship and social emancipation. The field of study is the Municipal School Francisco de Assis Varela Cavalcanti in Natal / RN in the biennium 2016 and 2017. We develop an analysis encompassing the field of communication, education and the convergence of both on the approach of social emancipation and citizenship. We elaborate a reflection on the sociocultural, political and economic conjuncture that reflects both in the Communication and in Education under a postcolonial sociological perspective. As a theoretical reference, we used Boaventura Sousa Santos, Paulo Freire, Pedro Morales, Raquel Paiva, Muniz Sodré, Ismar de Oliveira Soares.We observed as a result, the improvement of students participating in the project in the behavioral, cognitive and procedural fields. As well as, improvement of self-esteem, motivation, interest in study, emancipatory stages gained and citizenship experience.
