description According to our teaching experiences, we noticed that many students of Elementary and High School have difficulties in assimilating some concepts of physical geography studied in the classroom everyday, and difficulties in relating the contents with their own reality. In view of this, the present work aims to product a didactic material to assist Geography teachers. It is a board game called Discovery RN. The game aims to be a didactic resource to aid in the teaching and learning processes of the first year of High School. For this,we carried out a bibliographical and documentary review of the potential of games in geography teaching; we reveal how the board game Discovery RN was conceived and made, as well as the whole dynamics of the game; we report an experience with the game in the first year of high school class relating the potential of the game to stimulate multiple intelligences, skills and competences. Finally, we applied a questionnaire with the students in order to understand how the game can contribute to the teaching and learning process and observe the student's perception of the game's proposal. Therefore, we did an analysis of the whole process, from the making of the game to its application. Discovery RN proved to be a relevant didactic option to improve student interaction, to expand the subject studied in the classroom, and to have an important attractive factor for the students and a strong incidence in the acceleration of the student's mental activity. We hope that our study and the experience with the use of the game discussed here will be of prime importance for later reflection for all who are willing to contribute so that the school can be rethought and can meet the demands of society.

De acordo com nossas experiências docentes, notamos que muitos estudantes do Ensino Fundamental e do Ensino Médio apresentam dificuldades em assimilar alguns conceitos de Geografia Física trabalhados no cotidiano de sala de aula, além de dificuldades em estabelecer relações entre os conteúdos ministrados com a sua própria realidade. Diante disso, o presente trabalho objetiva a produção de um material didático lúdico de auxílio aos professores de Geografia. Trata-se de um jogo de tabuleiro denominado Discovery RN. O jogo em questão, visa ser um recurso didático de auxílio aos processos de ensino e aprendizagem dos estudantes do primeiro ano do Ensino Médio da Educação Básica. Para tanto, realizamos uma revisão bibliográfica e documental sobre o potencial dos jogos no ensino de Geografia; revelamos como foi pensado e confeccionado o jogo de tabuleiro Discovery RN, bem como funciona toda a dinâmica do jogo; relatamos uma experiência com o jogo na turma do primeiro ano do Ensino Médio relacionando as potencialidades do jogo para o estímulo de múltiplas inteligências, habilidades e competências. Por fim, aplicamos um questionário com os alunos no intuito de compreender como o jogo pode contribuir para o processo de ensino e aprendizagem e observamos a percepção do aluno em relação a proposta do jogo. Assim, fizemos uma análise sobre todo o processo, desde a confecção do jogo à sua aplicação. O Discovery RN revelou ser uma opção didática relevante para melhorar a interação dos discentes, expandir a temática estudada em sala de aula, além de apresentar um importante fator atrativo para os estudantes e uma forte incidência na agilização da atividade mental do aluno.
