Resumo:The object of this study is the confrontation with moral harassment carried out by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). The relevance of the theme justifies research that has sought to analyze documents and statistical data, study institutional policies and programs, discuss the impact of actions undertaken and identify challenges in conflict prevention and resolution. The research consisted of bibliographic and documentary, qualitative and quantitative, with exploratory and descriptive bias, having as main instrument of data collection, besides the available documentation, audiences with the managers responsible for the reception channels. Moral harassment is defined as any abusive conduct that attempts, by its repetition or systematization, against the dignity or physical or psychological integrity of a person, threatening his or her job or degrading the work environment. Common in the private sphere where competitiveness and profit prevail, this type of harassment also occurs within the scope of public administration, which is organized in a hierarchical way, due in part to the precariousness of labor relations. Between 2012 and 2017, the Ombudsman's Office of UFRN registered 120 reports of moral harassment, associated or not with other types of violence at work, made by students, teachers, administrative technicians and the external community. The institution treats the subject with attention, it has multidisciplinary teams to welcome the plaintiffs and it acts in the sensitization through products and informative events. However, the results obtained in the research indicate the need to strengthen the host network and systematize the registries. With this in mind, we opted for the elaboration of a protocol with the purpose of standardizing the reception of the demands and contributing to the improvement of the processes. Considering that this type of violence damages both the victim and the organization in which it is inserted, and to society as a whole, it is suggested to create an institutional program to permanently combat bullying at work.
