Resumo:Geography as a school discipline has always used different didactic resources to facilitate the teaching-learning process of the content addressed in its different levels of teaching, the textbook is highlighted in this scenario. Nowadays, the textbook provided by the Ministry of Education through the National Textbook Plan has been used by teachers and students as the main resource in the most different educational establishments. With regard to Geography, whose object of study is the geographic space, which corresponds to a wide field of investigation, which shows that its approach is made taking into account the geographical scales, whatever they are local, regional, national and global. Since the geographic space is established in global relations, but with peculiarities of each place. In this sense, this study aims to produce a regional didactic book that reproduces the physical, social, cultural, economic and political characteristics of the Metropolitan Region of Vale do Piancó (RMVP) in the hinterlands of Paraíba, whose target audience will be students of the 7th year of elementary school. The methodology of this research was accomplished through 3 steps: documentary research, bibliographic research and case study in all 18 municipalities that make up the Metropolitan Region of Vale do Piancó. Considering the bibliography analyzed, it was noticed that the approach of geographic themes present in the students' living space facilitates the process of understanding themselves, thus favoring their analogy with larger scales (CALLAI, 2009) still allows the formation of being as a citizen (CAVALCANTI, 2010). Therefore, it is understood that the regional textbook will help the teachers and students of this locality serving as complementary material to the textbook provided by the Ministry of Education.
