Resumo: | The literature shows that in the area of Chemistry Teaching the concept of solutions is
pointed out as difficult to be worked in the classroom, especially in high school classes.
This research aimed to contribute to this discussion, seeking new possibilities to approach
the concept in the classroom, from the Science, Technology and Society (CTS) approach.
The general objective was to teach the concept of solutions, seeking scientific and
technological literacy. In order to reach this goal, an initial diagnosis was made with the
participants and, later, a didactic sequence (educational product with orientations to
teachers) was elaborated, applied and evaluated with students of basic education. Seven
meetings were held at the Atheneu Norte-Riograndense School with the support of the
teacher in charge and participation of the 38 students in the class. The material was
conceived from the first diagnostic questionnaire, adopting a thematic approach on
medicinal plants. It was planned as a sequence of activities that aimed to promote
discussions about CTS relations, the knowledge of tradition and scientific knowledge, as a
way of contextualizing the teaching of the concept of solutions. This qualitative research
had as instruments for data collection two questionnaires: one of diagnostic evaluation and
the second of evaluation of the didactic sequence. One of the activities of greatest
pedagogical relevance was the simulated jury. From the results obtained, it was possible to
attest that, although the theme of medicinal plants is not commonly treated in the classroom,
it is present in the culture of the students, in their community and of their ancestors. The
results also showed that the activities proposed in the didactic sequence made it possible to
teach in a contextualized way the concept of solutions. |
