Her book depicts a more complex outline of the female body marked by sexuality and aging issues. We propose an analysis of how gender and sexuality discourses might affect character identity formation, strengthening or discouraging the hegemonic concepts of what it is to be a woman. In order to do so, we have selected “The sound of footsteps”, “But it's going to rain”, “He drank me up”, and “Mauá square”, which referred more representatively to the female body, aging, and sexuality. This research is grounded on the feminist literary criticism (2003), on Beauvoir's concepts of aging (1990), on Butler’s contributions on body, gender, and sexuality (2003), and also on Louro (2001), Foucault (2015) and Weeks (2001). The analyses of the short stories point to the fictional trait of the sex and gender categories, insofar as any sex (biologically differentiated body) is an empty body if it lacks a gender that culturally gives meaning to it. Thus, if sex and gender are not natural, we propose subversion, as the characters of the narratives do, to some extent, adopting performativity that exceeds binary boundaries,in the pursuit of freeingthe body and itspotentialities. A presente dissertação pretende investigar de que modo o corpo feminino se configura em alguns contos do livro A via crucis do corpo (1991), de Clarice Lispector (1920- 1977). Nessa coletânea de contos, o corpo feminino adquire contornos mais complexos ao vir atravessado por questões, como a sexualidade e a velhice. Tentaremos analisar como os discursos de gênero e sexualidade operam na formação identitária das personagens, reafirmando ou negando concepções hegemônicas do que vem a ser mulher. Para tanto, selecionamos os contos “Ruído de Passos”, “Mas vai chover”, “Ele me bebeu” e “Praça Mauá”, os quais foram mais representativos para a análise do corpo feminino, da velhice e da sexualidade. Como aporte teórico, adotamos a crítica literária feminista (2003), a noção de velhice de Beauvoir (1990) e as contribuições sobre corpo, gênero e sexualidade de Butler (2003), Louro (2001), Foucault (2015) e Weeks (2001). As análises dos contos apontam para o caráter ficcional das categorias sexo e gênero, na medida em que um sexo (corpo biologicamente diferenciado), sem o gênero que lhe atribui culturalmente um significado, é um corpo vazio.
