The production of electric energy is an activity of great importance when planning the growth
rate of any economy in the world. Brazil has, in relation to the other nations, the advantage of
being able to plan their energy matrix using large renewable sources. One of them, focused on
this work, is the biomass of sugar cane, which through cogeneration contributes to the
strengthening of the matrix. Although it has been available for a long time, it is observed that
this source has been recently used for the commercial generation of electricity. The Incentive
Program for Alternative Energy Sources (PROINFA), established by the Federal Government
in 2002, now extinct, and the emergence of the carbon credits market, driven by the Kyoto
Protocol, have helped this framework in the last decade, making biomass of sugarcane more
intensely used, becoming an important component in the Brazilian energy matrix. This
dissertation analyzes the grinding data, the amount of electric energy generated, exported,
among others subjects, of a sugar and ethanol plant that generates an sells energy in
the regulated environment (ACR) and in the free contracting environment (FTA), using sugar
cane bagasse of sugar. The work also verified that only with the use of bagasse as the energy
source agreed with the utility buyers was not guaranteed, due to the instability in the of sugar
cane crop. To solve the problem, the feasibility of using sugar cane straw in conjunction
with sugarcane bagasse by increasing the amount of fuel burned in the boiler
and consequently the generation of energy is also analysed. It is concluded that the bagasse
and straw together, here studied would have a gain both in energy exported and achievement
of the target, in addition to a considerable profit from the sale of electricity. |

It is concluded that the bagasse and straw together, here studied would have a gain both in energy exported and achievement of the target, in addition to a considerable profit from the sale of electricity.
