Sumario:Automatic process control is a growing demand in industries that seek techniques that automate the tuning of control systems and ensure efficiency, quality and safety. This work aims to implement a method of assessment and readjustment of PI controllers in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), in order to improve the robustness of the system. The method is inspired by works from the literature and has two stages, the first step is to evaluate the robustness of the controller, in which its gain and phase margins are estimated. In the second step the parameters of the PI controller are adjusted to ensure that the robustness criteria are not violated. It was intended to program the method directly into a PLC to work together with its controller. Initially, results of numerical simulations are presented to illustrate the method’s operation. Then, the implementation of the method through PLC programming is described. Experiments results in real plants controlled by PLC illustrate the effectiveness of the method.
