description With the increase in demand for places in University Residences, after the accession of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) to REUNI (Plan of Restructuring and Expansion of Federal Universities), the need to think about a proposal that meets the various demands of students and residents that could be built more quickly and adapted to the climate of the place. During the studies, the flexibility of concepts, permeability and interactivity emerged as responses to the problem. The flexibility in the architectural design architecture is a strategy that has been used to achieve a more sustainable architecture. According to literature, flexible spaces and uses, reflecting a longer life cycle of the building, thus avoiding future waste and generating savings. Through bibliographic research, reference studies and application of the Post-Occupancy Assessment (APO), in the residences of the central campus, the necessities program was set up. With the analysis of the questionnaires applied and the intersection with the objectives, studies of references and concepts, the program of needs was generated and the matrix of interaction between the environments. The bioclimatic zoning for the city of Natal and the local planning prescriptions and the campus of UFRN were used as a condition for the preliminary study. Using a standard modulation, volumetric and situational studies were developed to meet the needs program raised. The choice of the construction system, closures and coverage were defined taking into account the constraints raised, generating a proposal of building with flexible and interactive spaces to meet the demands of a university residence for UFRN.

Com o aumento na procura de vagas nas Residências Universitárias, após a adesão da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) ao REUNI (Plano de Reestruturação e Expansão das Universidades Federais), surgiu a necessidade de se pensar uma proposta de residência que atendesse as demandas da instituição e seus estudantes, através de uma construção rápida e adaptada ao clima do lugar. O conceito de flexibilidade surgiu como possível resposta para a problemática. A flexibilidade, na arquitetura, é uma estratégia projetual que tem sido utilizada para alcançar uma arquitetura mais sustentável. Segundo a literatura, flexibilizar espaços e usos, reflete num maior ciclo de vida da edificação, evitando assim futuros desperdícios e gerando economia de recursos. O processo de pesquisa ocorreu através de bibliografia, estudos de referências e aplicação da Avaliação Pós-ocupação (APO), nas residências do campus central da UFRN. Com análise dos questionários, aplicado aos residentes e cruzamento com os objetivos, estudos de referências e conceitos gerou-se o programa de necessidades. Utilizou-se como condicionante para o estudo preliminar, o zoneamento bioclimático para a cidade de Natal e as prescrições urbanísticas local e do campus da UFRN. Utilizando uma modulação padrão, foram desenvolvidos os estudos volumétricos e situacionais para atender ao programa levantado.
