Jorge Amado has an intrinsic relationship with the Cultural Industry. Since the 1940s, the writer has lent his works to film. Among them, we chose as the object of study, the book Capitães da Areia, a novel written in the 30s. The novel tells the story of a group of boys abandoned and living in a warehouse by the sea in Salvador. The novel was translated to film in 2011, which was directed by Cecilia Amado, granddaughter of the author. The main cast consists of amateur black teen actors, indicating that the director had a desire for realism in her work. The main focus of this study was the representation of the black personages from the book Capitães de Areia to the movie with the same name, bringing the debate about the archetypes and stereotypes of the black cinema.We do consider that the main focus of this study was reached, since, through the analyzes between the book and the movie, we understood the construction of the personages based on fidelity between movie and book. A pesquisa que resultou no trabalho “As personagens negras de Capitães da Areia em cena: diálogos entre literatura, cinema e teatro” analisou parte do rico universo de um dos principais autores nacionais e a sua relação com o cinema. Jorge Amado tem uma relação intrínseca com a Indústria Cultural. Desde a década de 1940, o escritor, de alguma forma, tem emprestado suas obras para o cinema. Dentre elas, escolhemos como objeto de estudo, o livro Capitães da Areia, romance lançado na década de 30. O romance relata a história de um grupo de meninos abandonados e que moram em um trapiche à beira mar, em Salvador. O romance foi traduzido em 2011 para o cinema, cuja direção ficou por conta de Cecília Amado, neta de Jorge Amado. O elenco principal é composto por adolescentes, não atores, afrodescendentes, que foram selecionados para os papéis, indicando que a diretora tinha um desejo de realismo em sua obra. O trabalho teve como objetivo geral a representação das personagens negras no filme Capitães da Areia, trazendo o debate dos arquétipos e estereótipos do negro no cinema.
