Resumo:This dissertation analyzes the phenomenon of migration in regional cut the northern semi-arid Northeast, especially the return movement of migrants to municipalities that compose it. The emergence of migratory flows can be understood from changing factors and stagnation in the region of origin, as well as pull factors in the target regions. The search for better job opportunities and income constitutes one of the main motivators in making the decision migrants to leave their region of birth towards the regions considered attraction poles. In Brazil, the migratory dynamics accentuated in the period between 1930 and 1970, marked by rapid economic progress, given unequally among the major regions of the country. Thus, the presence of strong regional differences, presented one of the greatest phenomena of dynamic national migration, especially the output of many northeastern towards southeastern Brazil. In this process, the state of São Paulo was the main destination of this stream. From the 1980s, the country, especially the large urban centers, went through several economic changes, with increased unemployment crisis, decentralization, productive restructuring and increased violence, triggering the migratory flows new contours, highlighting the return part of emigrants toward the region of birth. The aim of this work is to analyze the return migration process in the periods 1995/2000 and 2005/2010 to the northern semi-arid Northeast, which is composed of 755 municipalities, located above the São Francisco River, in the states of Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará , Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas and Piauí. This geographical cut is characterized by intense migratory dynamics, driven by lower rainfall and higher incidence of droughts throughout the Northeast, a fact that gives rise to significant impacts on the economic development of the region. It is used as a data source the Demographic Census of 2000 and 2010, where several variables on the migration issue, adopting the fixed date of migrant criteria. returnees flows were analyzed to cut, its demographic profile and spatial distribution. Adopted the binary logistic regression model to identify sociodemographic characteristics associated with returned. The main results show that stood out in the period studied cities pole of attraction (Campina Grande / PB, Juazeiro do Norte / CE, etc.). the intensification of intraregional migration dynamic Northeast was seen as the main source of return currents was the Northeast itself, surpassing the Southeast, it stands out the participation of Ceará. Finally, through the selectivity of migration the profile of the group of returnees was composed mostly in age from 18 to 34 years old, married or single, and with higher level of education compared to residents of the region.
