Resumo:Scientific issues have become increasingly discussion of reason among the Brazilian population, and the information come through diverse as the internet, newspapers and magazines, and often present news related to biology. Also been growing Research aimed at science education, and how to bring these scientific content updated to the classroom, so that they become effective means of learning related educational content. This paper presents a proposal to use scientific texts in biology classes as a possible teaching and learning tool of environmental microbiology topics in schools of large Christmas-RN. The research was initially developed between primary school teachers of science and biology in order to know their views on the concept of Texts of Science Communication (TDCs), and the benefits and difficulties when using these texts in the classroom. The results show that teachers claim to know these texts, but do not have correct settings because confused with scientific articles or simplifying them. The application of disclosure text occurred in a school Parnamirim / RN, the Greater Natal / RN with students of 2nd year of high school, and occurred in two stages, the first were identified, through drawings and a questionnaire, the students' conceptions about viruses and bacteria, and the relationship of science and technology on the control of diseases and epidemics, which served as the basis for analysis and discussion for application of scientific communication text. In the second stage we used a popular science text that comes to viruses, bacteria, science and technology and sustainable development through the issue of proliferation of the mosquito Aedes aegypti, which transmits dengue, chikungunya and zica, epidemic diseases at the time in Brazil. The results show that although the students have a good level of knowledge about symptoms, prevention and control of these diseases still lack critical sense of the influence of science and technology in daily life, because they have a reductionist and linear conception of science, since most students say that science is responsible only for benefits to society.
