Resumo: | The law applied to fire safety in buildings and hazardous areas in Rio Grande do Norte was enacted for over forty years. Thus lacks updates of your text in the light of new concepts resulting from scientific and technological development of fire safety and measures to control panic. The requirements currently applied by the state fire department are not in line with the approved legislation, raising many doubts and questions among designers and other professionals working in this area. In this scenario, this study aims to present a proposal for new rules of fire safety and panic to the State of Rio Grande do Norte. The proposal was drawn up based on the laws of other states, especially where fire safety achieved higher level of development, and was based on technical standards related to fire protection in Brazil and other countries. It was also applied a questionnaire to Fire Stations across the country, aiming to present a diagnosis of the current state of fire safety legislation in Brazil. It was found that there is still a large gap in the level of demand for fire protection requirements in most Brazilian states, there is a tendency in the adoption of technical instructions drawn up by the Fire Department of São Paulo, which already It came true in many states, since there is no legislation applied nationwide. This research supported the study commission appointed by the General of Rio Grande do Fire Brigade North Commander in proposing a bill to upgrade the fire safety standards for the Rio Grande do Norte. |
