description The process of sharpening of the expressions of the social issue and the expansion by which the policy of Social Assistance has gone through in the Brazilian conjuncture have given rise to a trend under Social Service that indicates that Social Security has suffered with a process of assistencialization of the social protection. However, this trend is not uniform and spreads, in the productions of Social Service, a confrontation of the evaluation of this expansion is due to an assistencialization or a right, which has a direct impact on the conceptions of the Social Assistance in the field of public policy. Accordingly, the present work had as main objective to analyze the political-theoretical and methodological trends productions in Social Service on the conception of the Social Assistance Policy in Brazil, and as specific objectives to point the main trends of Social Assistance in the academic debate of Social Service, identify thematic areas and key elements that surround this discussion and analyze the similarities and differences between the main productions. The methodology consisted of a literature review of part of the productions in Social Service and conducting semi-structured interviews with authors that have shown differences in regard to the concept of Social Assistance in the academic debate of Social Service. It was possible to identify a plurality of views on Social Assistance under the Social Service and, as proposed by the Code of Ethics itself, those views should be respected in their theoretical-political expressions. Moreover, it can be understood that this plurality comes from the conception of society project that each intellectual stands up for.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES O processo de agudização das expressões da questão social e a expansão por que passa a política de Assistência Social na conjuntura brasileira fizeram eclodir, no âmbito do Serviço Social, uma tendência que assinala que a Seguridade Social tem sofrido com um processo de assistencialização da proteção social. Todavia, essa tendência não é homogênea e se propaga, nas produções do Serviço Social, um confronto da avaliação dessa expansão ser decorrente de uma assistencialização ou de um direito, o que repercute diretamente nas concepções da Assistência Social no campo da política pública. Nesse sentido, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo geral analisar as tendências político-teóricas e metodológicas das produções em Serviço Social acerca da concepção da política de Assistência Social no Brasil, e como objetivos específicos, apontar as principais tendências da Assistência Social no debate acadêmico do Serviço Social, identificar os eixos temáticos e elementos chaves que circundam essa discussão e ainda analisar as semelhanças e diferenças entre as principais produções. A metodologia consistiu na revisão bibliográfica de parte das produções em Serviço Social e na realização de entrevistas semiestruturadas com autoras que vem apresentando diferenças no que se refere à concepção de Assistência Social no debate acadêmico do Serviço Social. Foi possível identificar a pluralidade de concepções sobre a Assistência Social no âmbito do Serviço Social e que, assim como propõe o próprio Código de Ética, devem ser respeitadas em suas expressões teóricas-políticas.
