Resumo: | In this article, we present three forms of doctoral thesis that students can engage in at UQAM: theoretical, intervention and practice-based thesis. We also address the wide variety of research conducted in the arts and organize it into a model based on three philosophical traditions which help shape the art research landscape. Using examples from different artistic disciplines, we illustrate three types of ethnographic research: interpretive, critical and postmodern. We think that this classification can help art students involved in theoretical as well as practical thesis. |
