The research problem is: after more than thirty-five years since the promulgation of the Constitution of the Federative Republic of Brazil, on October 5, 1988, is the implementation of the Economic Constitution a reality or just a promise that has not yet been fulfilled? The objectives of this paper are the following: analyze the principles that govern the Brazilian economic order; address the most important characteristics of the Theory of the Economic Constitution, especially its application in the Brazilian legal system; and study the reasons that may impede its implementation. The research method used is deductive, and the procedural method is monographic. Este artigo trata da efetivação dos princípios da Constituição Econômica no Brasil. O problema de pesquisa é: após transcorridos mais de trinta e cinco anos da promulgação da Constituição da República Federativa do Brasil, em 5 de outubro de 1988, a concretização da Constituição Econômica constitui uma realidade ou somente uma promessa que ainda não foi devidamente cumprida? Os objetivos do presente trabalho são os seguintes: analisar os princípios que regem a ordem econômica nacional; abordar os caracteres mais importantes da Teoria da Constituição Econômica, em especial sua aplicação no ordenamento jurídico brasileiro; e estudar os motivos que podem obstar à sua concretização.
