Resumo:The COAR Notify Initiative is developing and promoting the adoption of a standardized, interoperable and decentralized approach to linking research results hosted in the distributed network of repositories with other external resources and services. The COAR Notify protocol is based on the W3C Linked Data Notifications and ActivityStreams2 standards, facilitating interaction between repositories and services that implement the protocol. The initial focus of development has been on linking repository resources with external peer reviews hosted by overlay journals and open peer review services, but there are other use cases that are of interest to the community. In July 2022, the initiative received funding from Arcadia (Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin's charitable trust) for a project which is enabling investment in the development of Notify functionality on partner platforms and services, with the aim of it being adopted on opensource platforms so that many repositories can make use of the protocol. This communication will frame the initiative in the current context of open science, present up-to-date information on the progress made to date by the COAR Notify Initiative and provide information on the developments planned for the near future.
