Resumo:The article seeks out to carry a discussion about the usage of Instagram as an assessment instrument in the context of School Geography. To develop such reflection, references are used that deal with the theme of the current use of technologies, such as Santos (1994) and Levy (1999), as well as authors who discuss the teaching of Geography in contemporary times, Pontuschka, Paganalli and Cacete (2009). The National Common Curricular Base (Brasil, 2008) is also present, as a normative document to discuss pedagogical practices in Basic Education. Besides the bibliographical analysis, the methodology consists in applying a questionnaire for Geography teachers in Basic Education, in order to collect data on Instagram as an assessment learning tool. The analysis of the recorded responses allows pointing out that a renewal of the didactic-pedagogical assumptions of the teachers is necessary, aiming to break with traditional patterns and see the importance of technologies, such as the social network Instagram, as elements that must compose the teaching methodology.
