Resumo:The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in education is a currently challenging topic, that involves pedagogical, economic, social and cultural aspects. Given this scenario, it is important to understand how ICT are used in the educational context, what are the benefits and difficulties that they present, and what are the strategies and public policies that can promote an effective use of ICT in education. In this sense, this study aims to contextualize the contribution of the use of ICT in the teaching-learning process for teacher training, as well as the challenges and possibilities of the use of ICT in the educational field. For the realization of this study, a bibliographic research was carried out. In addition, a questionnaire was applied through Google Form to Geography teachers from the municipal network of Patos-PB. The use of ICT in education can bring benefits and challenges for students, teachers, schools and society in general. Therefore, it is important that there is a critical reflection and a continuous training on the use of ICT in education, so that their potentialities can be exploited and their limitations can be overcome.
