Resumo: | The world's population is on a downward trend in the birth rate and an aging population. The epidemiological profile of the elderly population is being greatly influenced by chronic non-communicable diseases, which are risk factors for other diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases. Exercise is still one of the most recommended means to prevent and control cardiovascular risk factors. The present study sought to evaluate how exercise can help control and prevent cardiovascular risks in the elderly, through a literature search, using the primary research sources Scopus, PubMed and Web of Science. The findings show that the application of physical exercises in groups of elderly of different ages, positively alters the levels of blood glucose, arterial hypertension, cholesterol, body mass index, flexibility, muscle strength and endurance. Being an effective means in the prevention and control of risk factors of cardiovascular diseases. |
