Resumo:The textbook is a didactic material of great importance for the transmission and acquisition of knowledge, skills and abilities to students in the teaching-learning process. With this study, the objective is to analyze the state of conservation of school books in Primary Schools in the city of Lichinga, Province of Niassa, in Mozambique. Methodologically, the study had a qualitative approach, following the descriptive paradigm. In order to carry out this study, a bibliographical review associated with content analysis was chosen. The results obtained demonstrate that the conservation of the school book is extremely essential to boost the pedagogical activity and, it continues to be a challenge taking into account that the mechanisms used by schools for the conservation of the school book have not had satisfactory effects, since the schools do not have warehouses or specific places for the conservation of school books, hence the involvement of all segments of society in the educational system is basically decisive. However, we are of the opinion that a deep reflection should be made on the strategy or ways of keeping textbooks in schools with a view to guaranteeing the availability of this didactic material and improving the quality of teaching and learning of students in Mozambique.
