The present article intends to analyze the Memórias do Esquecimento of Flávio Tavares, a survivor of the Brazilian and Uruguayan military dictatorship. The journalist's involvement in the opposition to the regime brought him several borderline situations, such as imprisonment, exile, and especially physical torture, described in detail by the author throughout his traumatic narrative. Thus, this study seeks to highlight one of the representatives of the political resistance, in an effort to go beyond what official history has told, preserving the memory of those who reacted against the violence of an authoritarian government. Or, as Bungart Neto (2019, p. 68) puts it, it is an "antidote against the Brazilian collective memoricide." O presente artigo pretende analisar as Memórias do esquecimento de Flávio Tavares, um sobrevivente da ditadura militar brasileira e uruguaia. O envolvimento do jornalista na oposição ao regime lhe trouxe diversas situações-limite, como a prisão, o exílio e, principalmente, a tortura física, descrita em pormenores pelo autor ao longo de sua narrativa traumática. Assim, este estudo busca evidenciar um dos representantes da resistência política, no esforço de ir além do que a história oficial contou, preservando a memória daqueles que reagiram contra a violência de um governo autoritário. Ou, como diz Bungart Neto (2019, p. 68), trata-se de um “antídoto contra o memoricídio coletivo brasileiro”.
