Resumo:The objective is to report the main experiences of internship in nursing in primary health care as a factor of empowerment for the profession. This is an experience report with a qualitative approach that was developed from September to December 2021. It took place in a Family Health Center (CSF) located in the northern region of Ceará. The internship in nursing made it possible to learn about the functions performed by nurses in primary health care, such as screening, attending to spontaneous demand, attending to HIPERDIA, coordinating the vaccination room, home visits, carrying out rapid tests, identifying and treating patient with leprosy and tuberculosis, childcare and prenatal care. Therefore, the internship in nursing allows the student to develop fundamental skills for the exercise of the profession, such as communication, creativity, humanization and autonomy and professional empowerment.
