Resumo: | The city of Marabá (PA) is well known for its floods, since its foundation. These are anticipated moments in the lives of city dwellers. This article seeks to contribute by analyzing and telling about the 1980 flood of the Tocantins and Itacaiúnas rivers, considered the greatest in the city's history, through photographs from the Arquivo Histórico Manoel Domingues (FCCM). For methodological purposes, we did a theoretical review on the photographic document, and a historical context of the city of Marabá (PA). In addition, we analyzed and interpreted 5 (five) photographs that represent fragments of this article. This study confirms how much the photographs of the Arquivo Histórico offer different possibilities for readings and studies on memory and local history. |
