Believing in the potential and possibilities of research from the artistic creation, the methodology adopted comes from the Artistic Research. Questions that arise from the movements that originated the song were discussed. After that, it was possible to think about an affiliation between the research object and the music of the “neighbors” Argentina and Uruguay, that is, the presence of elements of a “Platina sonority”. For the second part the dialogue between the song analyzed and the poem Martin Fierro by José Hernández is explored and is also what ignites the dialogue between Brazilian popular music and Literature. Lastly, results are presented bearing in mind the methodology adopted, showing a relation between the song and guitarristic elements and the presence of a “Platina literature” in the composition here discussed. O presente artigo tem por objetivo refletir sobre o processo criativo da canção Gaucho de Juliano Guerra e Mateus Porto. Acreditando nas potencialidades e possibilidades de se fazer pesquisa do ponto de vista da criação artística adotou-se uma metodologia afim com a pesquisa artística. Discutiram-se questões que surgem a partir dos movimentos que deram origem à canção citada, assim como pontos disparadores dessa criação. Assim, foi possível pensar sobre uma filiação entre o objeto de pesquisa e as músicas dos países vizinhos Argentina e Uruguai, ou seja, a presença de elementos de uma sonoridade platina. Em um segundo momento, explorou-se o diálogo da canção com o poema Martin Fierro de José Hernández, pensando, a partir disso, nas relações da canção popular brasileira com a literatura. Ao final apresentaram-se resultados condizentes com a metodologia adotada, relacionando a canção com elementos violonísticos e a presença de uma literatura platina na composição discutida.
