Among the chorographies which compose the fifteen books of the work, it is in the last one that we observe the description of what we now call North and Northeast Africa and, chiefly, the report on Alexandria. Among the approaches that can be made in the analysis of the text, the spatial one stands out for dialoguing with the thematic focus of the work, that is, the geographic space. Thus, we consider that the instrumentalization of spatial concepts such as “place”, by Yi-Fu Tuan (1983), and, particularly, “landscape”, by Tim Ingold (2000; 2015), can broaden the perspective on the historical source. Therefore, we approach the case of the city of Alexandria to present how the interpretation of the text from the landscape is made. KEYWORDS: Place; Landscape; Strabo; Geography; Alexandria. A Geografia de Estrabão (I a.C.-I d.C.) é uma descrição do mundo afro eurasiático antigo. Dentre as corografias que compõem os quinze livros da obra é na última que observamos a descrição do que hoje denominamos como norte e nordeste da África e, especificamente, o relato sobre Alexandria. Dentre as abordagens que podem ser feitas na análise do texto, a espacial se destaca por dialogar com o foco temático da obra, isto é, o espaço geográfico. Destarte, consideramos que a instrumentalização de conceitos espaciais como “lugar”, de Yi-Fu Tuan (1983), e, particularmente, “paisagem”, de Tim Ingold (2000; 2015), pode ampliar a perspectiva sobre a fonte histórica.
