Resumo:With the emergence of the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a pandemic in March 2020. Faced with a health crisis and the increase in demand for antiseptic products as the main combatants to the virus, the market suffered difficulties in supplying the entire population in the acquisition of these products. Therefore, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) joined efforts to combat the pandemic, and one of its actions was the production of antiseptic alcohol, by the NUPLAM, one of its supplementary units responsible for research in the drugs field. This research is presented as a descriptive and retrospective case report about this activity. A data collection was carried out regarding the process of production of antiseptic alcohol solution carried out at NUPLAM-UFRN and distribution for the state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN). The time cut was between April 2nd to April 7th. August 2020. The total production exceeded 70 thousand liters of antiseptic alcohol, which were distributed to the health network. In 2021, the curve of the number of confirmed cases in RN continued to grow, as did the demand for hygiene care, making it essential to continue actions to combat the pandemic.
