Far from presenting propositions, the idea is to provoke each of us to think about the teaching we have and what we want to have. Above all, think about what teachers we can or do we want to be? Este artigo, elaborado a partir de inquietações sobre práticas de ensino de música, tem como proposta refletir e problematizar o ensino de instrumento musical em seus diferentes níveis, em especial a formação e atuação de professores nessa modalidade de ensino. O texto toma como base autores das áreas de educação e educação musical, que possibilitaram a definição de conceitos e o diálogo com as narrativas metodológicas apresentadas. Assim, mais do que apresentar proposições, a ideia central do texto é trazer provocações que levem a pensar em uma formação e prática de ensino de instrumento que transcenda as amarras da tradição e que possibilite refletir sobre o ensino que queremos e, principalmente, sobre o professor que queremos ser.
