Este artigo, elaborado a partir de inquietações sobre práticas de ensino de música, tem como proposta refletir e problematizar o ensino de instrumento musical em seus diferentes níveis, em especial a formação e atuação de professores nessa modalidade de ensino. O texto toma como base autores das áreas de educação e educação musical, que possibilitaram a definição de conceitos e o diálogo com as narrativas metodológicas apresentadas. Assim, mais do que apresentar proposições, a ideia central do texto é trazer provocações que levem a pensar em uma formação e prática de ensino de instrumento que transcenda as amarras da tradição e que possibilite refletir sobre o ensino que queremos e, principalmente, sobre o professor que queremos ser.
