Resumo:This article focuses on the Agricultural Course at the Escola Agrotécnica Federal (Federal School of Agricultural Sciences) course of Uberaba, in Minas Gerais, Brazil, in the period between 1982 and 2002, from the time of its creation until the renaming of the School as the Federal Center for Technological Education. The aim was to understand the historical context of the creation of the institution and the Agricultural course through analysis of its relations with the National Coordination of Agricultural Education, an agency of the Brazilian Ministry of Education and Culture. To this end, a bibliographical and documental research was carried out. It was noticed that creation of the Agricultural course of the Escola Agrotécnica Federal (Federal School of Agricultural Sciences) was fundamental in offering professional education with contribution to the regional economy by training specialized laborers, by promoting social interaction, and by providing practical school experience.
