Resumo:Textbooks are important tools for support in formal education, and widely used by teachers and students. Therefore, research on textbooks evaluation is relevant to better guide the school community in the choice and use of this curriculum material. In this qualitative, documentary and exploratory research work, we analyzed an approved textbook for the three years of high school, in the area of natural sciences and its technologies. We used an evaluative tool on the STS perspective and concluded that the book still needs to be complemented by other materials and topics for discussion, in order to better provide grounds for the achievement of STSE education’s goals. We also recommend other tools for evaluating STSE relationships present in curriculum materials.
