The Brazilian classic Monica and friends, by Maurício de Sousa, is in line with this proposal, as it addresses progressive themes related to the environment, inclusion and diversity. However, this was not always the case, because in the last decades of the 20th century, the content presented in the stories was based on jocular and uncompromising humor, but in keeping with its time. This study proposes, then, to understand how the conditions of production were and are intertwined in these narratives and in their relationships of meaning, as an ideological tool at the service of their time. With regard to theory, this article is based on the Pêcheutian Discourse Analysis bringing the concepts of subject, meaning and ideology as the basis of the observations presented. As Histórias em quadrinhos são reconhecidas na contemporaneidade não só como um meio de fruição, mas também como um aparato pedagógico. O clássico brasileiro Turma da Mônica, de Maurício de Sousa, vem ao encontro desta proposta, já que aborda temas progressistas relacionados ao meio ambiente, à inclusão e à diversidade. No entanto, nem sempre foi assim, pois nas últimas décadas do século XX, o conteúdo apresentado nas historinhas baseava-se no humor jocoso e descompromissado, mas de acordo com sua época. Este estudo se propõe, então, a entender o modo como as condições de produção estavam e estão imbricadas nessas narrativas e em suas relações de sentido, como uma ferramenta ideológica a serviço de seu tempo. No que se refere à teoria, este artigo tem como aporte a Análise do Discurso Pecheutiana, trazendo os conceitos de sujeito, sentido e ideologia como base das observações apresentadas.
