| Resumo: | The waters are a chapter apart in the history of Feira de Santana. The silencing of these memories about the urban fabric tries to make the relevance of the waters unimportant for the city's population. We seek to evidence the work activities, sociabilities, and leisure in the tanks, from the understanding of the production of an urban based on the attempt to keep suburban subjectivities away. Part of the sociocultural spectrum understood as suburban was produced in the water spaces by the labor activities of watermen, housekeepers, washerwomen, among others. This article aims to add to the understanding of the relationship between work and the production of city space, as well as to evidence that these environments carry the memories inscribed in the daily toil of ordinary people. |
