| Resumo: | Among the various forms of plant cultivation in our society, this study analyzed the customs related to plants in residential environments. The article presents an ethnography that shows the relationships of individuals in the uses, perception and manipulation of plant resources in city apartments. Interviews were conducted with families who live in apartments in the city of Juiz de Fora/MG and cultivate plants. Thus, this study of urban anthropology shows how people from urban areas create strategies to maintain this activity despite the built environments that often make it difficult. Questions regarding the origin of the vegetable in the residence, cultivation strategies and relationships between people and plants are presented. In conclusion, cultivation is not an activity to produce one's own food, but an activity that provides the well-being and socialization of people. |
