Resumo:Introduction: The analysis of trends in global health indicators shows the growth in the prevalence of chronic no transmissible diseases. The inadequate dietary pattern has been associated to the occurrence of these events. It can be defined as a set of foods often consumed by individuals and populations. In the subsequent definition, we start with empirical food data that are aggregated on the basis of statistical analysis. The methods used to calculate food standards are cluster analysis and principal component analysis (PCA) and reduced station regression (RRR). Objective: To carry out a bibliographic survey on the identification of eating patterns in healthy adults with a posteriori approach. Methodology: The articles were selected by means of search in 4 databases, being rescued 328 publications. Results: Only 9 articles identified eating patterns through a posteriori approach in adults, 7 of which were transverse and 2 were longitudinal. Conclusion: There are still few studies that have identified feeding patterns in adults without associated pathologies using a posteriori methodologies, which represents a large and important field of research in the nutritional epidemiology to be explored to better understand the dietary habits of different populations in the relationship with other factors.
