Reflecting on the human management of people, especially in the relationship between people and organizations in a strategic way, there is a need to review organizational practices, however, it is possible to see the evolution of the theory of people management in a more humanized perspective. Este ensayo teórico buscó presentar una retrospectiva histórica del concepto de gestión humana de personas y comprender el campo de los estudios organizacionales contemplando principalmente a las personas. Se trata de una investigación bibliográfica y documental, a nivel exploratorio y con análisis de datos cualitativos. Reflexionando sobre la gestión humana de las personas, especialmente en la relación entre personas y organizaciones de forma estratégica, existe la necesidad de revisar las prácticas organizacionales, sin embargo, es posible ver la evolución de la teoría de la gestión de personas en una perspectiva más humanizada. O presente ensaio teórico buscou apresentar uma retrospectiva histórica do conceito de gestão humana de pessoas e compreender o campo de estudos organizacionais contemplando principalmente pessoas. Trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, em nível exploratório e com análise qualitativa dos dados. Refletir sobre a gestão humana de pessoas, sobretudo no relacionamento entre pessoas e organizações de forma estratégica, emerge a necessidade de revisão das práticas organizacionais, no entanto, vislumbra-se a evolução da teoria sobre gestão de pessoas numa perspectiva mais humanizada.
