Methodologically, this research uses quantitative methodologies, questionnaires and data analysis to obtain results, which in turn, prove a loss of space from education to the internet, a disbelief in political parties and democracy, although the studentsconsider them important and have a broad democratic vision. Este trabalho tem como foco analisar e comparar como os alunos do terceiro ano do ensino médio do Rio Grande do Norte (RN), mais precisamente nas cidades de Riacho da Cruz e Parnamirim, compreendem a democracia e a esfera política a partir do conteúdo inerente ao ensino de Sociologia, assim como a percepção desses jovens acerca dos direitos e deveres como cidadãos e da importância da democracia e da política. Como procedimento metodológico, a escolha das duas cidades incide sobre duas diferentes realidades, mas que estão imersas sobre os mesmos conteúdos no ensino de sociologia. Para a pesquisa, foram usados questionários que, por sua vez, comprovam uma perda de espaço da educação para a internet e uma descrença nos partidos políticos e na democracia, embora os alunos as considerem importantes e tenham uma ampla visão democrática.
