Resumo:This article aims to present the historical path and the recognition process of the Quilombo do Maracujá Community, in Conceição do Coité-BA, based on the oral histories through the elders of these community and theoretical framework. The methodology used is qualitative and exploratory, based on empirical aspects, using data from the narrative interviews carried out with the elders/griots and the community teachers as an instrument. The results allowed us to reflect that, although the Brazilian black movement has driven the organized struggle in favor of Quilombo communities and these groups have achieved important goals, many steps still need to be taken, and it is essential to propose a school curriculum that articulates scientific knowledge and traditional knowledge, aiming to build up a dialogic relationship that involves practices and expectations about community life.
