Resumo:The article aims to build knowledge about the history that brings Sertã to Sertão, in order to reflect on how Community-Based Tourism contributes to the appreciation of cultural heritage. This is a qualitative study based on bibliographic research. For a better understanding of the subject, approaches were sought between Sertã, in Portugal; and Sertão, in Brazil, based on Matta and Passos (press), verifying that there is a historical relationship between Sertã and Sertão. A brief exposition of the concepts and assumptions of Community-Based Tourism was made through the contributions of authors such as Coriolano (1998), Cravidão (2011), Irving (2009), Maldonado (2009), Martins (2020), Sampaio (2005), Silva et al. (2012), Spínola (2000). Finally, it was understood that Community-Based Tourism in Povoado Alto is a promising alternative for valuing cultural and historical heritage.
