In this context, Primary Health Care (PHC) professionals responsible for Growth and Development (CeD) evaluations must be prepared to provide guidance on nutrition. Objective: Assessing the knowledge about IA of PHC professionals responsible for CeD evaluations. Methodology: Cross-sectional and quantitative study, developed with PHC professionals responsible for CeD consultations in the city of Currais Novos, RN. These professionals have answered an online semi-structured questionnaire on sociodemographic and professional profiles, knowledge and security, self-reported, concerning IA and doubts about it. Data were analyzed using absolute and relative frequencies. Results: No professional took a course in the field of IA, and 60.9% did not have access to the Food Guide. Most feel safe to pass on information about IA, but have doubts and seek to study the subject. As for the classification of their knowledge, 52.2% (n=12) classified themselves as “Good”; the classification “Very good”, in turn, was predominantly composed of nurses (87.2%). Fifteen questions were listed, including: quantity (n=12) and types of food to be offered (n=6), supply onset (n=3), use of teas (n=2) and amount of water to offer (n=2). Conclusion: Although most professionals have "Good" or "Very good" knowledge about IA, there is still a need to further study the theme due to both its need and relevance.

A partir del 6º mes de vida, se inicia el momento de introducción alimentaria (IA) que, cuando realizada de forma correcta, permite adecuado aporte energético y de nutrientes. En este contexto, profesionales de la Atención Primaria de Salud (APS) responsables de las consultas de Crecimiento y Desarrollo (CyD) deben estar preparados para realizar orientaciones sobre alimentación. Objetivo: Evaluar el conocimiento sobre IA de los profesionales de la APS responsables de las consultas de CyD. Metodología: Estudio transversal y cuantitativo desarrollado con profesionales de la APS responsables por las consultas de CyD del municipio de Currais Novos, RN. Estos profesionales, respondieron, de forma online, cuestionario semiestructurado sobre perfil sociodemográfico y profesional, conocimiento y seguridad auto reportados por los profesionales, conocimiento sobre IA y dudas sobre IA. Los datos se analizaron utilizando frecuencias absolutas y relativas. Resultados: Ningún profesional realizó curso en el área de IA y 60,9% no tuvo acceso a la Guía Alimentar. La mayor parte se siente seguro para repasar las informaciones sobre IA, pero tiene dudas y busca estudiar sobre la temática. En cuanto a la clasificación de los conocimientos, 52,2% (n=12) se clasificó como “Bueno”; la clasificación “Muy bueno”, por su parte, fue compuesta predominantemente por enfermeros (87,2%). Fueron enumeradas 15 dudas, entre ellas: cuantidad (n=12) y tipos de alimentos a ser ofertados (n=6), inicio de la oferta (n=3), uso de tés (n=2) y cuantidad de agua para ofertar (n=2). Conclusiones: A pesar de que la mayoría de los profesionales posee “Bueno” o “Muy bueno” conocimiento sobre IA, aún existe la necesidad de profundización en la temática debido a la necesidad y relevancia. A partir do 6º mês de vida, inicia-se o momento de introdução alimentar (IA) que, quando realizada de forma correta, permite adequado aporte energético e de nutrientes. Nesse contexto, profissionais da Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS) responsáveis pelas consultas de Crescimento e Desenvolvimento (CeD) devem estar preparados para realizar orientações sobre alimentação. Objetivo: Avaliar o conhecimento sobre IA dos profissionais da APS responsáveis pelas consultas de CeD. Metodologia: Estudo transversal e quantitativo desenvolvido com profissionais da APS responsáveis pelas consultas de CeD do município de Currais Novos, RN. Estes profissionais, responderam, de forma online, questionário semiestruturado sobre perfil sociodemográfico e profissional, conhecimento e segurança autorrelatados pelos profissionais, conhecimento sobre IA e dúvidas sobre IA. Os dados foram analisados utilizando-se frequências absolutas e relativas. Resultados: Nenhum profissional realizou curso na área de IA e 60,9% não teve acesso ao Guia Alimentar. A maior parte se sente seguro para repassar as informações sobre IA mas possui dúvidas e procura estudar sobre a temática. Quanto à classificação dos conhecimentos, 52,2% (n=12) classificou-se como “Bom”; a classificação “Muito bom”, por sua vez, foi composta predominantemente por enfermeiros (87,2%). Foram elencadas 15 dúvidas, dentre elas: quantidade (n=12) e tipos de alimentos a serem ofertados (n=6), início da oferta (n=3), uso de chás (n=2) e quantidade de água para ofertar (n=2). Conclusão: Apesar da maior parte dos profissionais possuírem “Bom” ou “Muito bom” conhecimento sobre IA, ainda há a necessidade de aprofundamento na temática devido necessidade e relevância.
