Objective: To analyze the understandings of the male population, assisted in the scope of Primary Health Care, about health care in the municipality of Glória do Goitá - PE. Methodology: This is a descriptive-exploratory study, with a qualitative approach. The study setting was the Primary Health Care in the city of Glória do Goitá - PE, from June to August 2019, with six male users participating. The collection was carried out through semi-directed interviews, using the content analysis proposed by Bardin. The study was only carried out after approval by the Research Ethics Committee. Results: The findings were listed in two categories: the perception of health care, where the male population identified this care as promotion and prevention practices, however, it still presented the influence of the biomedical model; and the perception of the health system, where it was identified that the Brazilian health system still has access barriers that need to be overcome. Conclusions: The development and improvement of public policies aimed at the male population are characterized as one of the main strategies for expanding access to health services. In addition, Primary Health Care is characterized as a strategic level to rethink and rebuild the Health Care model, as well as to collaborate in the process of empowering the male population.

Introducción: La atención de la salud se puede identificar como una estrategia integral, y su producción se cataloga como una prioridad para la población masculina, ya que este público tiene singularidades y especificidades. Objetivo: Analizar la comprensión de la población masculina, asistida en el ámbito de la Atención Primaria de Salud, sobre la atención a la salud en el municipio de Glória do Goitá - PE. Metodología: Se trata de un estudio descriptivo-exploratorio, con enfoque cualitativo. El escenario del estudio fue la Atención Primaria de Salud de la ciudad de Glória do Goitá - PE, de junio a agosto de 2019, con la participación de seis usuarios masculinos. La recopilación se realizó a través de entrevistas semidirigidas, utilizando el análisis de contenido propuesto por Bardin. El estudio solo se llevó a cabo después de la aprobación del Comité de Ética en Investigación. Resultados: Los hallazgos se clasificaron en dos categorías: la percepción del cuidado de la salud, donde la población masculina identificó este cuidado como prácticas de promoción y prevención, sin embargo, aún presenta la influencia del modelo biomédico; y la percepción del sistema de salud, donde se identificó que el sistema de salud brasileño aún tiene barreras de acceso que deben ser superadas. Conclusiones: El desarrollo y mejoramiento de políticas públicas dirigidas a la población masculina se caracteriza por ser una de las principales estrategias para ampliar el acceso a los servicios de salud. Además, la Atención Primaria de Salud se caracteriza por ser un nivel estratégico para repensar y reconstruir el modelo de Atención de Salud, así como para colaborar en el proceso de empoderamiento de la población masculina. Objetivo: Analisar as compreensões da população masculina, atendida no âmbito da Atenção Primária à Saúde, acerca do cuidado em saúde no município de Glória do Goitá - PE. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo do tipo descritivo-exploratório, com uma abordagem qualitativa. O cenário do estudo foi a Atenção Primária à Saúde do município de Glória do Goitá – PE, durante os meses de junho a agosto de 2019, participando seis usuários do sexo masculino. A coleta foi realizada por meio de entrevistas semidirigidas, sendo utilizada a análise de conteúdo proposta por Bardin. O estudo só foi realizado posteriormente a aprovação do Comitê de Ética e Pesquisa. Resultados: Os achados foram elencados em duas categorias: a percepção do cuidado em saúde, onde a população do sexo masculino identificou este cuidado como práticas de promoção e prevenção, no entanto, ainda apresentou a influência do modelo biomédico; e a percepção do sistema de saúde, onde foi identificado que o sistema de saúde brasileiro ainda apresenta barreiras de acesso que precisam ser superadas. Conclusões: O desenvolvimento e aprimoramento de políticas públicas voltadas para a população do sexo masculino se caracterizam como uma das principais estratégias para a ampliação do acesso aos serviços de saúde. Além disso, a Atenção Primária à Saúde se caracteriza como nível estratégico para repensar e reconstruir o modelo de Atenção à Saúde, assim como, para colaborar no processo de empoderamento da população masculina.
