Resumo:The phenomenon of prolonging the vital stage of individuals results from policies to expand rights and improve quality of life standards, in a significant part of the planet, bringing the challenge of serving the elderly population in the spheres of the educational system. However, the Brazilian educational legislation reflects the marginalization and invisibility of the elderly population, despite its presence in the EJA modality and its growth as a demand for rights in the social and economic spheres. The aim of this article is to discuss the reframing of the school space operated by elderly subjects who propose to resume their studies, enrolling in the EJA modality, in a public school in the municipal network of Natal-RN. Based on the dialogue with their life stories, we analyzed the set of meanings brought by these subjects, pointing to the school as a place to repair the denial of the right to education when infants and welcoming their needs for socialization, sharing experiences and learning.
